Senior QA Engineer is responsible to lead and drive software quality assurance across the organization by establishing robust testing strategies, automation frameworks, quality standards, and continuous testing practices.

Qualification and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of professional experience in Software Quality Assurance, Software Testing, or Quality

Job Description

Test Strategy & Quality Ownership

• Own and drive the overall QA strategy for assigned products and projects.
• Define appropriate testing approaches, methodologies, tools, environments, and quality standards based on product requirements and risk.
• Review requirements, user stories, specifications, and technical design documents to identify ambiguities, quality risks, and potential defects at an early stage.
• Establish quality gates and ensure appropriate testing is completed before production releases.
• Ensure quality is embedded throughout the SDLC, rather than being limited to the final testing phase.

Test Planning & Execution

• Create and maintain comprehensive test plans, test scenarios, test cases, test data, and test execution strategies.
• Ensure adequate coverage of functional, integration, regression, exploratory, smoke, sanity, negative, and end-to-end testing.
• Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities across multiple projects.
• Identify critical business flows and ensure appropriate risk-based testing coverage.

Test Automation

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and maintainable automated test frameworks.
• Develop automated test scripts using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or equivalent frameworks.
• Establish automation standards, reusable components, coding practices, and reporting mechanisms.
• Continuously evaluate the automation suite and improve its reliability, coverage, and execution time.
• Identify suitable test cases for automation and maximize automation coverage without compromising testing effectiveness.

CI/CD & Continuous Testing

• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing during development, build, and deployment.
• Work closely with DevOps and engineering teams to establish automated quality gates.
• Monitor automated test execution and investigate flaky, failed, or unstable tests.
• Support faster and safer releases through continuous quality validation.

API & Database Testing

• Design and execute comprehensive testing for REST and GraphQL APIs.
• Validate API functionality, authentication, authorization, error handling, data integrity, and response performance.
• Perform database testing using SQL to validate data accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
• Validate integration between internal systems and third-party services.

Performance & Security Testing

• Plan and execute performance, load, stress, and scalability testing for critical application workflows.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and collaborate with engineering teams on optimization.
• Contribute to security testing by identifying vulnerabilities related to authentication, authorization, data exposure, API security, and other common application security risks.

Defect Management & Root Cause Analysis

• Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects with clear reproduction steps and supporting evidence.
• Work closely with developers to investigate defects and perform root cause analysis.
• Conduct thorough regression testing after defect fixes.
• Monitor defect trends and identify recurring quality issues requiring process or architectural improvements.

Required Skills

• Strong ability to develop test strategies and test plans.
• Expertise in risk-based testing and identifying critical business scenarios.
• Strong understanding of functional, integration, regression, end-to-end, exploratory, smoke, sanity, negative, and acceptance testing.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis and identify recurring quality issues.
• Ability to establish and monitor QA metrics and quality gates.
• Strong understanding of shift-left testing and continuous testing.
• Ability to identify appropriate opportunities for test automation.
• Strong knowledge of defect lifecycle and defect management.
• Ability to assess release readiness and quality risks
