We are looking for a skilled Python/Django Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with Django 5, Django REST Framework (DRF), real-time communication, asynchronous task processing, third-party integrations, and Docker-based deployment workflows.
The candidate will work on backend APIs, real-time order management, payment systems, reporting utilities, and production-ready application infrastructure.

Qualification and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Science or related technical discipline.
• Atleast 2-3 years of prior experience with Python/Django roles
• Experience with Django 5 and modern Python development practices.
• Previous experience with restaurant management, food ordering, POS, kitchen display systems, or order management platforms.
• Experience with thermal receipt printers and ESC/POS protocols.
• Familiarity with Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM).
• Knowledge of pre-commit and automated code quality checks.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and production application monitoring.
• Understanding of scalable, event-driven backend architectures.

Job Description

1. Core Backend Development

• Design, develop, and maintain robust RESTful APIs and backend services using Python, Django 5, and Django REST Framework (DRF).
• Design efficient database schemas, optimize queries, and implement reliable business logic.
• Implement secure authentication, authorization, validation, and API access controls.
• Follow clean architecture principles, reusable coding practices, and backend development best practices.

2. Real-Time Communication

• Develop real-time order tracking, kitchen order updates, and notifications using Django Channels and WebSockets.
• Integrate MQTT-based communication for printer devices.
• Ensure reliable event delivery and synchronization between backend services and connected devices.

3. Asynchronous Processing & Task Scheduling

• Implement background jobs, scheduled tasks, and asynchronous workflows using Celery, Redis, and django-celery-beat.
• Develop reliable task processing mechanisms with appropriate retries, error handling, and monitoring.
• Optimize task execution and manage event-driven workflows for time-sensitive operations.
• Build and maintain event streaming pipelines using Apache Kafka for reliable, high-throughput communication between services.

4. Payment & Third-Party Integrations

• Integrate regional and international payment gateways with secure transaction processing and verification.
• Implement payment callbacks, webhooks, transaction status handling, and reconciliation workflows.
• Integrate SMS and messaging services, along with push notifications using Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM).
• Ensure secure handling of API credentials, sensitive information, and third-party service failures.

5. Data Management & Reporting

• Develop data ingestion, transformation, and processing pipelines using Pandas and NumPy.
• Build reporting utilities and implement Excel and CSV import/export functionality.
• Generate operational reports and optimize data processing for large datasets.
• Ensure data accuracy, validation, and consistency across reporting workflows.

6. Code Quality & Testing

• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests using pytest and relevant Django testing tools.
• Follow coding standards and maintain pre-commit hooks for linting, formatting, and static analysis.
• Participate in code reviews, debugging, refactoring, and continuous quality improvement.

7. DevOps & Deployment

• Containerize backend applications and supporting services using Docker and Docker Compose.
• Configure environment-specific settings for development, staging, and production.
• Collaborate on deployment workflows, CI/CD pipelines, application monitoring, and production troubleshooting.
• Support secure configuration management, logging, and application performance optimization.

Required Skills

• Strong programming skills in Python.
