The ideal candidate will join the Core Banking team to perform and monitor regular End-of-Day (EOD) and Beginning-of-Day (BOD) activities in the Core Banking System and ensure completion of scheduled jobs and operational activities, troubleshooting and escalating issue during processing.
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 2+ years of prior work experience in related roles.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle Database and SQL.
Job Description
- Perform routine CBS operational activities and provide timely production support.
- Monitor database performance, availability, storage, sessions, jobs, logs, and database-related alerts. Troubleshoot SQL and database-related issues in coordination with application and infrastructure teams and manage backups.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL queries, scripts, and database procedures for operational and management reporting. Generate regular, ad-hoc, and business-critical reports from CBS databases. Validate report data and ensure accuracy and consistency of generated reports. Analyze database information to support operational, reconciliation, audit, and business requirements. Optimize SQL queries and reporting processes for improved performance.
- Provide database and CBS support during application deployments, releases, patches, and production changes and coordinate with development and testing teams for deployment preparation and database changes.
- Review and execute SQL scripts, database objects, and deployment scripts in accordance with approved procedures.
- Support UAT, testing, and production deployment activities. Assist in troubleshooting deployment-related database and application issues. Participate in post-deployment verification and ensure successful completion of business-critical processes.
- Identify repetitive operational tasks and develop automation-based tools and solutions to improve efficiency. Create and maintain Bash/Shell scripts for database, server, reporting, monitoring, and operational activities.
- Automate report generation, log monitoring, housekeeping, health checks, and other routine tasks where applicable.
- Research and introduce suitable tools and techniques for improving CBS and database operations.
- Work with testing, monitoring, and load-balancing tools to support application availability and performance. Assist in performance testing, issue analysis, and production readiness activities.
- Coordinate with relevant teams during system maintenance, failover, and high-availability activities.
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of Core Banking Systems and CBS operational processes.
- Experience with EOD/BOD operations and production support.
- Strong SQL query development and database troubleshooting skills.
- Working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments.
- Experience writing Bash/Shell scripts and automating operational tasks.
- Understanding of database backup, recovery, monitoring, and performance management.
- Experience supporting application/database deployments and production releases.
- Knowledge of load balancing, testing, monitoring, and deployment tools.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills - Experience with Oracle 19c / PostgreSQL 18 or similar enterprise database environments.
- Experience with banking applications such as Core Banking Systems.
- Knowledge of backup, database performance tuning, SQL optimization, and Oracle utilities.
- Experience with enterprise scheduling, monitoring, automation, and DevOps tools.
